Galuchat Picture Frame, Small, 3" x 3", Verdigris Shagreen
A rare group of shagreen (galuchat in French) picture frames made in the Alexander Lamont workshops. Simple elegant materials are finely crafted to hold images of loved ones. Shagreen or stingray skin was first used in Japan as a decorative material and later was used by Parisian decorators of the 1920’s and 30’s as a minimal, luxurious texture.
